This experience was excellent. There was a very short notice and limited time to execute a roof replacemet. Presidio roofing stepped up, educated us kn the process was able to bring in a crew within a few days with materials on hand and complete the job in one day. Key things to note: I've asked for updates and images of the work and they were committed to comply. No mess left behind is very welcoming because we were in the process of selling our home. This was my first experience with roofing issues and dealing with companies and insurance. Cliffton came out and explained the entire process to me and guided me every step of the way. He was very responsive to my messages and always replied quickly. The project was at my parent’s home and I live across the country and couldn’t be there but his attention to detail and excellent communication made my parents very comfortable and relieved.He accommodated every request and was transparent about everything. The entire process from start to finish was done perfectly. Surprisingly the entire job was completed in a day. They picked up all of the debris and cleaned up impeccably after themselves. For anyone needing a roofing job done pain and stress free, I recommend Presidio without reservation.

I can’t say enough great things about this roofing company!! They went above and beyond to take care of all our needs and did such an excellent job on our roof and the other items that they fixed as well!! They answered any question we had and kept us informed and took care of all the insurance company paperwork and kept us informed on everything along the way.. The Framing

Framing is the first step of construction and is just what it sounds like. It’s constructing the frame in which the rest of the roof will be built upon. This is when the pitch of the roof will be determined.

The Pitch

Determining the proper pitch is extremely important. Factors that go into the pitch not only include the plans and aesthetics, but also the materials that will be used. Certain roofing materials are not compatible with low slopes and can actually put your roofing system at risk. When it comes to the pitch of your roof, you will want to decide on your roofing material ahead of time.

Trusses

Trusses provide support for the roof, keep your roof from falling down, and are installed after the framing. They will support a large amount of weight, and are a critical part of construction as they will need to support the full weight of the materials used during and after the construction process.

Sheathing

The sheathing is a plywood material that is fixed onto the framing and forms the base of the roof. In warmer climates such as here in San Antonio, sheathing is commonly made with aluminum on one side to help reduce heat on the roof.

Drip Edge

The drip edge is a piece of metal that hangs over the edge of the roof and is designed to further protect the sheathing from rain and water damage.

Underlayment

Then comes the underlayment which is simply a protective layer over the sheathing. Also known as felt paper or tar paper, roofing underlayment is another barrier of protection from the outside elements. Today, synthetic underlayment is typically used because it is considered more durable and less likely to deteriorate over time. Until about 15 to 20 years ago tar paper was commonly used, but this practice is less popular due to the longevity of synthetic underlayment.
